Bring Live Music to Your Hometown with Gig Gage!

Are you tired of missing out on your favourite bands because they never tour in your area? Gig Gage is here to change that! With Gig Gage, you can help make live music in Australia happen right in your hometown.

Our Why

How Gig Gage Works

Imagine this: your favourite band could be playing just down the street, all thanks to you and your fellow fans. By participating in Gig Gage, you have the power to bring world-class music directly to your local venue. Here’s how it works:

Gig Gage Setup

Working closely together with promoters and artists a Gig Gage is created for a potential tour stop in your city, with a goal set to cover the basic costs of the tour.

Going Live

The Gig Gage goes live, and you can start making it happen!

Purchase a Gig Bond

This is your chance to make the gig a reality! By purchasing a Gig Bond, priced the same as a ticket, you can help the Gig Gage fill up. If enough fans do the same before the deadline the gig is confirmed!

Ticket Conversion

Once the Gig Gage is successful, your Gig Bond automatically converts into a ticket, and you’re all set to attend the show.

Refund or Exclusive Merch Offering

If the Gig Gage is unsuccessful, don’t worry! You are entitled to a full refund* or an exclusive merch offering from the band that’s worth as much, if not more, than the Gig Bond. *Excluding transaction fees

How Gig Gage Started

The Origin of Gig Gage: Making Live Music Accessible for All

Gig Gage was born from a simple yet powerful idea: no fan should have to miss out on seeing their favourite bands live just because of where they live. Time and again, we heard stories from passionate fans in small market cities who were frustrated that their favourite artists never toured in their area. This frustration sparked the creation of Gig Gage, a platform designed to show promoters and bands that there is a huge, untapped demand for live music in every corner of Australia.

We recognised that the traditional touring model often overlooks smaller cities due to financial constraints and uncertainties about ticket sales. That’s where Gig Gage comes in. By allowing fans to pledge their support through purchasing Gig Bonds, we make it financially viable for artists to expand their tours to new locations.

Here’s how it all started:

  • Listening to Fans: We heard from countless fans who were tired of traveling long distances to see their favourite bands. These passionate music lovers wanted more opportunities to enjoy live music in their own towns.
  • Connecting with Promoters and Bands: We collaborated with promoters and bands to understand their needs and challenges. We wanted to find a way to make it feasible for them to include smaller cities in their tour schedules.
  • Creating a Solution: Gig Gage was developed as a platform where fans can directly show their support by purchasing Gig Bonds. This not only demonstrates the demand but also helps cover the basic costs of bringing the tour to their city.
  • Proving the Demand: Through successful Gig Gage campaigns, we’re able to prove to promoters and bands that there’s a strong desire for live music in smaller markets. This makes it easier for them to justify adding new tour stops.

With Gig Gage, everyone wins: fans get to enjoy live music without having to travel far, and bands can confidently expand their tours knowing there’s a supportive audience waiting for them. Join us in our mission to bring more live music to all parts of Australia, and let’s show the world that every city deserves amazing concerts!

About Leigh

Founder Leigh Chalmers

After leaving a super fun accounting job, I decided to embrace my creative side. From a (bad) actor to a (competent) stand-up comedian, to an event manager, and the creator of events like Rottofest (2008-2018), I’ve had an exciting journey. I’ve toured comedy legends like Anthony Jeselnik (US) and Donnell Rawlings (Chappelle’s Show) and worked with amazing bands such as Spacey Jane and Tame Impala… but now I’m just name-dropping.

The idea for Gig Gage came from a trip I took to Thailand with my sister. We had four nights in Bangkok, and I decided to Google “Are there any heavy metal gigs in Bangkok?”. To my surprise, there was one show while I was there for a band called Unto Others. Holy shit, I love those guys! They’re a relatively unknown band from Portland, but after reading a review of their first album, I gave it a listen and became a super fan.

I couldn’t purchase tickets online as the site was all in Thai, so I decided to show up at the venue super early to avoid missing out. After navigating a busy foreign train station, I found myself in front of the venue about half an hour before doors opened. Sitting outside were two dudes with long hair, dressed in black with armband studs. I asked, “Are you the guys? Mind if I grab a beer and hang out?” To my surprise, the bass player responded in a clean American accent, “Yeah man, cool. After an hour and a few more beers, we talked about touring, and they mentioned they had just toured Australia. I was shocked—I’m a super fan, how did I not know this? They explained that the promoter wasn’t confident in selling enough tickets in Perth, so they skipped the West Coast. It made sense; no one wants to lose money.

The band said they had a blast on tour and would have played all over the country if they could. Being from Perth, I’ve experienced tours skipping us before, but chatting with this band until 3 AM got me thinking. The bands want to play, the promoters want to put on good shows, and the fans want to see their favorite bands… and so, Gig Gage was born!
